For homeownersBuild once. Build well.

Find a residential architect in Australia

Archive Design is a curated matching service: we introduce you to a residential architect whose work already fits your brief, budget and site, before the first meeting. It is not a directory.

No upfront cost. A $300 AUD introduction fee applies only if you choose to proceed with your matched architect.

Why fit matters

Designing your home may be something you do once in your life. It will shape how you live every day. The risk isn't choosing the wrong design. It's choosing the wrong fit.

Coverage

Residential architects across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and regional Australia.

The problem · The solution

Most homeowners start the hard way.

The hard wayMonths
  • Scrolling portfolios.
  • Comparing aesthetics.
  • Guessing at budget compatibility.
  • Hoping alignment reveals itself later.
  • Sometimes it doesn't, not until months in. After time. After fees. After momentum.
The solution2 minutes

Archive Design matches you before the first meeting.

We introduce you to architects whose proven work, built and unbuilt, already aligns with:

  • Your site
  • Your ambition
  • Your budget
  • Your way of living

Not a directory. Not a lead platform. A curated starting point.

Find Your ArchitectTakes around 2 minutes. No upfront cost.
The process

How it works

You don't need to trawl portfolios. You need someone who understands what you're building, and why.

Find Your Architect

Create your profile

Share your site, budget range, timeline and vision, whether that's inner Melbourne, coastal Sydney, or anywhere across Australia. Takes around 2 minutes.

We assess alignment

We review real project work, built and unbuilt, beyond what's visible online.

You're introduced with confidence

You begin with shared ground, not hopeful guesswork.

What we match on

How you want to live, what you will not compromise on, the materials and spaces you are drawn to. We match on your brief, not a mood board.

Why this matters

Whether you're building a new home, completing a renovation, or starting a knockdown rebuild, it deserves more than browsing. Better alignment leads to better projects. Better projects lead to better homes.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Creating your profile is completely free. If Archive Design matches you with an architect whose work genuinely fits your brief and you choose to proceed, a one-time $300 AUD introduction fee applies. There is no cost if you don't like what you see.

Once you've submitted your profile, we review it against our curated network of residential architects. Introductions are made only when there is a genuine fit, not on a fixed timeline. We'd rather take the time to find the right match than rush an introduction that isn't aligned.

Archive Design operates a deliberately selective network. We assess every architect application against clear criteria and only accept practices whose residential work, site responsiveness, and design approach fit what homeowners on the platform are looking for. The network is curated, not open.

Your profile covers your site (location, constraints, orientation), your budget range, your timeline, and the kind of home you want to live in. The more specific you are, the more precise the match. The profile takes around 2 minutes to complete.

A directory shows you everyone and lets you browse. Archive Design reviews your brief against our archive of built and unbuilt residential projects, assesses alignment, and makes a curated introduction, only when the fit is genuine. You don't trawl portfolios. We do that work for you.

Archive Design includes residential architects across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and beyond. Create a profile describing your site and project, and we match you with practices whose documented work already fits, wherever you are in Australia.

Architect fees in Australia vary by practice, project scope, and contract type. Independent industry sources commonly report 7 to 15 percent of construction cost for a full service on a custom home. Homeowners on Archive Design are matched with practices whose fee approach is compatible with their budget. Read how architect fees work in Australia.
